In this season of thanksgiving it is important to remember to give God all the glory and thanksgiving first. Of course, God should receive our thanksgiving each day of the year but it is good to get this reminder during this season. The poem “A Grateful, Thankful Heart” by Deborah Ann Belka touches upon this. You can find more of her poetry at CHRISTian poetry ~ by deborah ann.
The verse that inspired this poem is
“O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.” – 1 Chronicles 16:34 (King James Version)
I pray to learn how to truly appreciate all of the little things that God does for me each day. I must be thankful for the fact that I have food and clothes and shelter. I must remember that all I have comes from God and not from my own strength.
I must remember to thank God for everything that happens to me whether it is good or bad because I must remember that God is always good and his mercy endures forever. I pray that an attitude of thanksgiving will lead to my heart having peace in every season of life.
These are some of the thoughts that this poem has brought to my mind today. I hope that this encourages you today to have an attitude of thanksgiving. What have you learned from this poem? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
